The month of March kicked off with Angela and Lorna creating two beautiful beddings for the children of the flats on the corner of Brompton and St George. There were a few initiatives where residents sponsored gardeners to clean their own sidewalks, as well as their neighbours.
In April, we received many plants and pledged plants. We had residents generously sponsor their gardeners to clean and prepare the pavement on the corner of Milner and Frere where Angela, Lorna and Veronica created a pretty garden with the newly pledged plants.
The above efforts inspired other residents to clean and beautify their sidewalks, and we noticed quite a few residents adding new plants.
We even had one resident, whose sidewalk was cleaned in March by a neighbour’s gardener, cleaning and trimming his own sidewalk!
The rock and succulent garden on Milner Road behind the police station was done in two phases in June by Angela, Lorna, Francois, Keith, Carl, Kennedy, Queeneth, Calum, Jo and Precious.
The weeks leading up to this Angela and Lorna got help from many hands with the moving of the big rocks and many community members sponsored plants.
So, like the creeper plants we are slowly infiltrating our neighbourhood bit by bit!
The Gardening and Landscaping Team can be contacted on gardening@kenbrink.co.za should you wish to volunteer or donate some plants – or even sponsor your gardener to assist elsewhere in the suburb.
